Research & Evaluation
Slate Science is an education technology company that offers products designed to encourage STEM (science, technology, engineering & math) learning for children.
The company launched its first iPad app series, SlateMath for Kids, to help young students develop mathematical skills through playful interaction based on a learning methodology that taps into a child's natural and intuitive learning processes.
Slate Science launched its SlateMath app among hundreds of existing educational apps on the market. Our challenge was to highlight SlateMath’s scientific and interactive math-teaching pedagogy and raise awareness among consumers, teachers/homeschoolers, education media and tech media. Additionally, SlateScience had just come off a successful $1.1M angel round and needed to get the funding news to the financial media.
We created and executed a strategic media campaign to garner coverage for the funding news and app launch. The campaign included:
- Planned and executed funding and launch announcements
- Managed media relations for SlateScience’s participation at SXSWedu events including the Startup Showcase and LAUNCHedu pitch contest
- Created and managed Slate Science’s daily social media and online content
Strategic outreach to financial/VC trades, mommy/homeschooling bloggers, education and technology outlets resulted in a wide variety of coverage in target outlets including among others: Venture Beat, CNET, edtech Digest, Teachers With Apps, eSchoolNews and Tech& Learning. The media coverage helped elevate SlateMath’s brand awareness and recognition within the investor, consumer, educational and technology communities.
